2024 CVGA May Tournament Results

We had 31 golfers teed it up on Sunday, May 19th, at Foxford Hills Golf Club in Cary, IL. Congratulations to Thai Dang, May’s tournament champion. Thai shot an 86 on Sunday with a net of 72.5 to win the competition by a couple strokes. Colin Nguyen was second overall and won the A Flight with a gross of 84 and net of 74.2. Paul Pham won the B Flight with gross of 92 and net of 76.2. The Par-3 closest to the pin winners was Paul, Noah Kemp, Joe Pircon and Nam Le.

For the Teams matches, the Saigon $hark$ mauled the competitors to win by 18 points with a team total net of 296.2. Coming in second were the Green Hunters (314.5) followed by the Pins Seeker$ (323.1) and not so Golden Dragon (335.3).

We have a new leader for the CVGA Cup. Allen Van has retaken the lead with total score of 440 points followed by Danny Nguyen at 435. Colin made a big jump in the standing at third place at 405 points. Rounding out the top 5 are Binh Le (375) and Christopher Nguyen (350). Note that the CVGA Cup final points total comprises of the top 8 scores out of 9 for each player so much can happen before we crown a new CVGA Cup Champion.

The Saigon $hark$, with their strong May performance, are the new CVGA Team Cup leader with a total score of 200 points. In second place is the Pin Seeker$ (150) followed by the Golden Dragons (125). The Green Hunter$ are on the scoreboard but still in last place with 50 points after three events. But the season has just started and there are many more tournaments to go.

Next month’s tournament will be at Klein Creek Golf Club on June 16, 2024 with the first tee time starting at 1pm. The format will be individual stroke play. Click on this link to register. You can also register on the ChicagoVGA app.
