2023 Michiago Cup Results

So close to an epic comeback for Team CVGA as we made a furious comeback on Sunday, winning 12 of 20 Singles matches, but ultimately came up short by 1.5 points to win back the cup. Congratulations to co-captains Peter Dang, Loi Tran and Team Detroit for winning the 2023 Michiago Cup by a score of 21-19. Well played guys.

Team Results: Detroit VGA’s putters were on fire during the team scramble matches, dominating the session by a score of 8.5 to 1.5. The Chicago VGA team settled down and came back to win the team best ball afternoon session by a score of 5.5 to 4.5. Even so, Team Detroit was in command, leading by a score of 13 to 7 after Saturday’s team matches.

Singles Results: A miracle was needed by the Chicago VGA team on Sunday’s Singles, needing 13.5 points to win the back the cup. And it looked good for a while as Team Chicago started strong and evened the competition at 17-17 with 6 matches remaining. But it wasn’t to be as Team Detroit took 4 of the 6 final matches to win the Michiago Cup.

It was another great competition. Special thanks to Loi for planning the Friday’s meet and greet and to Duy and Vanessa for hosting the Saturday evening barbecue. We will see everyone on August 24-25, 2024 for next year Michiago Cup.
